What's happening with the socks?
I have to say, I'm really disappointed with how this is turning out... the idea was a wonderful one and I eagerly signed up to participate. When it was my turn, I made sure to knit my part, take some pics and send it on to the next person, all within just a few days (I believe it was 3). What should have been a relatively quick journey for these socks has taken more than a year, with the sock/s often spending weeks, even months, in one place.
Come on people, if you can't meet your commitment, either pull out or just send them on to the next person.
I, for one, can't wait to see what these socks will look like when they're finished, and I want to celebrate the fact that they've travelled around the world and been knitted in so many different places.
So what's this KAL about?
Everything is "international" these days, but I bet you've never seen a truly international pair of socks. A pair that's been around the world, visited interesting places, met a whole bunch of even more interesting knitters, and has a story to tell about it. Now you have the chance to become acquainted with such an esteemed pair of socks.
The aim of this KAL is to bring knitters all around the world together. We lurk around on each others blogs, admire other knitters' knitting from afar. No more of that! Let's create a hands-on experience. An opportunity to see first hand what other knitters have created. Continue where their stitches end and contribute with our own.
Yes, a chain-knitted pair of socks! If you have some scraps of sock yarn in your stash, enough to knit a small part of a sock, this is your chance to use it. This will be the most colorful and charming pair of socks, the pair of socks with the most character, the most interesting international pair of socks the world has ever seen.

I have to agree. I can understand if all of a sudden we don't have time (life happens!), but it should be passed on so it doesn't get held up.
Maybe it's lost in the mail? Do we even know where they are?
I totally agree! I've been waiting to knit my share, but yeah, it's been a year? Are they lost?
I'm wondering myself. I think that I am next in line for TISA, but haven't heard a thing.
Yup. This was not exactly what I had in mind when I started the KAL. I know I haven't exactly been the world's most active hostess, but that was kind of the point; that the socks (all of us) were to tell the story. I feel very frustrated, but there's only so much I can do. I've sent numerous emails, but no reply yet. Please, if you have the sock, just send it to the next knitter if you don't have time to finish your part. Or at least let us know where it is. Thank you.
Amen, fellow knitter! I was one of the slower folks (life happens!) but I did manage to get the little devil on its way, and it has barely been heard from since. On the other hand, I have suffered two major postal-related losses in the last year (one was a swap package that I only learned was missing long after the insurance receipt was gone) so I can sympathize entirely if that is what has happened to our lovely socks. I sure hope not, though.
Come on, all is forgiven - let's see those socks!
I am not willing to blame the post. If they were in the post, the responsible knitters would have said "it went in the post on....."
And life does happen, it took me a couple of weeks and I had planned for three days.
Could who know who is supposed to have them check also Ravelry and see if the knitters are members alive over there?
yup! I'm thinking I won't ever have my turn ... and that makes me sad.
Hello again! Maybe we can find someone who lives near the folks who allegedly have the socks and could go and visit or give them a phone call? I always worry when someone I only know on line seems to disappear because there is so little one can do from so many miles away.
Maybe the socks will just jump in an envelope and get on the road.
I'm still waiting patiently too, and have to admit that I'm glad the sock didn't arrive here while I was going through all my things this year.
But, life seems to be rosier now, and I'm eager to get knitting! LOL
