Comments and suggestions

I see that some knitters have already found their way here. Welcome! It would be great to get some comments and suggestions about this KAL.

What do you think about the idea?
Will you participate?
Is there anything that you would add or change?
Any comments or suggestions that you might think of are welcome. Just comment to this post.

A few knitters have already signed up, and there will be a list of participants on the blog when we have a little more names.

If you have any special requests about when you would like to knit your part (e.g. if you're going on a trip or otherwise are unavailable during a specific time), please email me and I'll try my best to adjust the knitting order accordingly.

Sign-ups will be open until May 6. It will be so exciting to see how many socks we can turn into globetrotters! Send me an email with your name and blog address to voivitsi (at) yahoo (dot) com to register.

Wouldn't it be fun if the sock itself described the journey in "postcards" on Flickr. A picture and then a story in the description box underneath.

"I arrived in Washington yesterday, and man is it hot here! I'm staying with ---. Today I visited the so-and-so monument and met some of the locals. I'm having a great time! Leaving for Stockholm on Monday."

And so on.

Just to let you know, Cynthia's blog link doesn't work right.

I am confused as to how this will work. How will teh knitters knitting the foot part know how long to knit it? How does one "win" the pair of socks? Whosupplies teh needles, yarn, etc.? Curious mind here wants to know :)

Celia, good questions.

Yes, the foot part will be a little tricky, but since socks do stretch a bit, I thought we could knit it an "average" length that is likely to fit a majority of the people in the group. It will of course be a little to big for some, and a little too small for others.

The winner of the pair of socks will be determined in a drawing. I'll just put your names in a hat and pick one. :)

I'll supply the needles, and they'll be sent to the first knitter together with instructions and the journal. Every knitter supplies their own yarn, so the sock will have very interesting stripes. :)
