Alpha Monkey left Germany about 2 months ago. There was no food in the package to set of the Dept. of Agriculture alarms... (the goody was a bit more "stringy")

sigh, when it's my turn I am passing off to Germany -are you really saying that I cannot mail out sweets of any kind...what else is banned. I don't want to be the one to have the sock quarantined or whatever...that is so sad...........meanwhile, is there any rule against putting on the sock and mailing yourself with it. these socks are having such really great adventures...
Mailing stuff TO the US is generally a bigger problem than mailing stuff from the US. You usually can mail sweets or anything which is sealed and not fresh/dried meat or agricultural goods. Since it was hot in July, I also didn't want to send anything which would melt, since even airmail takes a week. And Germany is the home of some really awesome handpainted yarn, too. Although I have read some funny posts on German blogs about German customs wondering if it is okay to import STR yarn into Germany.
